TAHKOcom Ltd was established in 1988. In the beginning, the company provided services in real estate marketing, rental and managing as well as engineering. Right from the start, the company has also offered holiday home maintenance services provided by several subcontractors. Since 1997, TAHKOcom Ltd has acted as an agent specialising in providing travel and maintenance services.
TAHKOcom Ltd is the central booking agent in Tahko area. In other words, it is the medium of marketing and selling the products of local travel businesses. The idea of Tahko Central Booking Office is to make the life of its´ clients - that is the producers and consumers of travel services - easier. In practise this means that once the producers of travel services become partners of Tahko Central Booking Office Ltd, they can concentrate in what they do best, and leave marketing and selling to TAHKOcom Ltd. For the consumer, on the other hand, Tahko Central Booking Office can find the best alternative from the wide selection of products, or even make a full service package from the best products of Tahko area. Therefore the client does not have to spend time trying to find contact information, making several phone calls and trying to fit the bits and pieces of his holiday together. In its' operations, TAHKOcom Ltd uses latest technology, which is mainly developed and maintained by the company itself. TAHKOcom Ltd has an online booking centre at www.tahko.com where the holiday home owners can also find their own site (entrance with a password only). TAHKOcom Ltd employs 10-15 people, depending on the season. In addition, the company has 2 doughter companies, Travel House Finland Ltd and Tahko24h Ltd employing 20-100 people altogether for providing maintenance and support services.
During the winter season 2008-2009, TAHKOcom Ltd offers a selection of approximately 800 holiday homes and ten hotels/hostels in ten municipalities around Kuopio lake district. Naturally most of the accommodation is concentrated in Tahko area. The owners of holiday homes consist of travel entrepreneurs, other companies, as well as private individuals. Statistically speaking, the above mentioned accommodation equals approximately 6500 beds, 30 000 reservations and 200 000 overnight stays. The growth in the above mentioned figures has in the last years been 30-100 %.
Since TAHKOcom Ltd does not own any of the products in its' selection, all alternatives in the area are treated equally. Thus, the actual needs of the consumers decide the demand. Therefore TAHKOcom Ltd has a very tight network of partners in Tahko area, spreading also to most of the Kuopio lake district.
